The initial intake is the first session that we meet together. We review the intake paperwork and discuss the presenting problems as well as your history and goals. This is part of my clinical assessment. My clinical assessment can span 1-3 sessions, and is the time when I get to learn more about what is going on, who you are, and how and if I am able to best support you.
Brainspotting uses a specific spot in your visual field, to open an access point to your subcortical brain. This access allows for deeper internal processing than traditional talk therapy alone. Brainspotting is used in combination with other therapeutic styles and methods, based on your therapists experience and skillset. Brainspotting is only one of many tools that we can use in therapy. If you are interested in trying Brainspotting, please let me know so we can discuss this tool. If I believe Brainspotting would be helpful to you, I will introduce it as an option.
